Be careful what you ask for. When they asked me for an opinion of Barak Obama I said, first off, since it is unavoidable, I don’t care if he’s black, yellow or purple, he’s a Marxist with an entirely different vision of America than my own. Then, what of Hillary Clinton? She’s an unlikeable opportunist who found out, on the way to her coronation, that it wasn’t as inevitable as she supposed. The Demorats jumping from her ship has been the entertainment of the season. While her vision of America is not quite as radical as Obama’s, it still isn’t my vision. So, that means John McCain’s the choice? Well, he certainly has a track record of disturbing things, not the least of which is McCain-Feingold and the taking away of first amendment rights and an open borders immigration policy. He’s a moderate and thus the charge that he may be “the third Bush term” isn’t as disingenuous as it sounds on the surface. Nevertheless, it all comes down to this: do you feel reasonably safe and secure since 9-11? Yes. The evidence is clear, not withstanding human imperfection and liberal screamers, we have been. America’s cities have not turned into Tel Aviv or Haifa. Do you worry about sitting outside your Starbucks drinking your latte? Are you concerned that the grocery store may contain some sort of explosive? Has your bus or train been tampered by terrorist? No. Either the plot has been thwarted or never came to fruition. This would be less possible in Obama’s and Clinton’s America. Raise taxes and weaken defense is the path they will take, to the determent of both economy and security. That means, for better or worse, McCain is the best choice. He will not be a Reagan conservative but he will not be an Obama socialist. He will defend this nation and its homeland so the trips to Starbucks and the grocery store will go on in an orderly fashion, as we have grown accustomed to…as it should be.
