From This Day Back January 29, 2008

I take it to mean you’ll be looking from this day back

and I must agree its counter-cultural with all this “going forward”

and “I’m not here to talk about the past” there seems to be

little stock in what was learned and plenty of value in what’s

ahead, as unknown as it might be, as solid as a fever dream.

But we lived in and through that first Internet bubble and

it is much like that today, only the stakes are higher, the

air more palpable, the stress more pungent.

You seem to laugh more and I think that’s healthy

and it’s better to know what brought you the smile,

what brought us here, than to forget and grope for the wall

while falling forward, in the aimless joy of youth.

Let’s confess our differences, embrace our commonality,

and leave the rest to the world for now, for the moment.
