Fragrance, aroma, catching the nose,

be it drawn to or repelled from, it’s the air

flavored

spiced

lingering on the palate, spell-binding wine

but intoxicating another sense, another

And it generates a feeling, a destination, no,

a journey, and this is the way-station,

set apart, too far from home, and unfettered

or so it seems, or so we allow it to seem

And we don’t think about it like our mouths,

our ears, our eyes, no it is like that strange

cousin whom we love if only because we don’t

see him nearly enough to know who he really is

And that’s the mystery in fragrance, aroma

catching the nose, be it drawn to or repelled

from, it’s the air

flavored

spiced
