Cadence June 24, 2007

There’s a cadence to

the day that’s disrupted by life.

We are separated from

nature by what comes

naturally to us:

Telephones,

News,

Blogs,

Cars,

Sponsors,

Children,

Sports,

And Jobs,

And we must be forced

against our wills to sit

quietly and surround

ourselves with

the serenity that is

always present for us if we

but take the time to ask,

to enter, to enjoy.

No need for a sherpa

to lead us through Nepal and

up the Himalayas

so a dali can apply

metaphysical chiropractic to our souls.

We live in a house

divided, minds split, in a

whirlwind of activity that is

a flimsy veneer covering

the truth of what we need.

 There is a cadence to

the day and it is lost in

the shallow pools

of low tide in this

American life.

The damage from

incremental erosion is

evident

to everyone

but us.
