Ben Jo’Dan was a Beat man, you know,
Cool. Widely syncopated but no ryhmin,
just goin with the flow. Smooth,
you know, flashin the cash and bling
not like some fool, like a king and,
you know, he was so cool.

Ben Jo’Dan was a Beat man wise, you know,
to all kinda street jive, loose verse like “Man alive!”
and “Things is Jake!” or so, you know,
he was Boss of the Beat. Dig?
He didn’t waste time on nickel bags or dime wine.
Him creator of the Groov-en-Nation, you know. Big time!

Ben Jo’Dan was a Beat man, you know,
never crossed the cops, though they’d like to accusate
on his hands and eyes and mouth like he was
some small-time reprobate or so, you know,
He was the hippest cat, and cool, did I say, ya, so cool!
You know, they took him down afta he took em to school.
